HEWI magnetic shower holder honored with iF Design Award 2024 Gold
Every year, iF International Forum Design GmbH organizes one of the world’s best-known and most highly regarded design competitions: the iF Design Award. The award is regarded worldwide as a symbol of excellent design and this year received almost 11,000 submissions from over 70 countries.
The innovative HEWI magnetic shower holder was recently honored with the highest award in the “Bathroom” category: the iF Design Award 2024 Gold. Only the 75 most outstanding solutions from the numerous entries were honored with the gold award. The design jury emphasized that “Never before has this award been as exclusive and valuable as this year”. The award-winning magnetic shower head holder particularly impressed the jury with its simplified handling, which offers a high level of showering comfort for everyone. The award ceremony took place at the Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin.
JURY STATEMENT ON THE AWARD-WINNING MAGNETIC SHOWER HOLDER
The jury justified its assessment as follows:
”The HEWI magnetic shower holder is a masterpiece of simplicity. From the outset, the designers worked on a solution that was sleek and elegant while removing barriers for people with physical disabilities. The use of magnets eliminates the need for moving parts and makes it easier to operate with one hand. The extraordinary structural strength is part of the design”.
HEWI MAGNETIC HAND-HELD SHOWER HEAD HOLDER – A NEW FEELING OF COMFORT
The innovative HEWI magnetic hand-held shower head is much easier to use and, in terms of universal design, is an ideal product for all people and especially for users with physical disabilities. It also features simple and easy height adjustment thanks to a magnetic function that allows for sliding of the shower head holder, an intuitive one-hand operation, a 360° smooth-swiveling cone-shaped holder, and the omission of the widely used buttons and knobs. The shower head holder can thus be used without effort and even by those with motor limitations. Wet hands are no longer a concern during use because the traditional clamping mechanism has been replaced by the innovative magnetic system, thereby eliminating the need to apply pressure when adjusting the shower head holder.
THE IF DESIGN AWARD
Since 1954, the iF Design Award has set itself the task of recognizing outstanding design achievements and social responsibility. This year’s iF Design Award jury consisted of 132 international design experts from over 20 countries, and was tasked with recognizing innovative projects and highlighting social and global trends. The HEWI magnetic shower holder impressed the jury and was awarded the renowned iF Gold Trophy, which recognizes HEWI as one of the top winners of the world-renowned design label.
